Back in January we sent a birthday package to Daniel. Nothing elaborate, just introducing ourselves and some small toys and candy. A birthday cake and a camera. We received a few photos from the orphanage. For the first time it feels like he our son. He looks like he is so happy in the pictures. The little boy in the star vest entertains me. He is in the middle of every picture. It looks like Daniel likes the Elmo doll. He can bring that to the states with him and provide some comfort. The wait is getting tough. I just want to go get him and go on with our lives. But it will be worth the wait. Anyway, enjoy the pictures.
Now we wait!

Home Study is complete. Now we wait for final approval and travel approval to China. I know this will be the longest 6-8 months ever. Adding this young man to our family is exciting. I spend several hours a day researching the town of Kashgar were Dongdong is currently living. its in the far north west corner of China near Tibet and Mongolia. We bought the Rosetta stone and trying to learn a little bit of Mandarin. We are also making flashcards with pictures of everyday items like food, water and toys. This way Daniel(Dongdong) can at least so us a picture of what he wants.
I’m sure as we get closer the posts will be more exciting. Stay tuned!

Bringing Daniel Home
10 02 2012I have devoted a lot of time to talking about cheese. However for the next year this blog will be all about bringing home a new child from China. When my wife and I startedtalking about having another child we decided that we wanted to adopt. We have a beutiful 11 year old daughter and we wanted to give a home to a child that was with out a home. We came across a handsome young boy in Kashgar, China named Dongdong, Daniel will be his American name. and his picture spoke to us. At this point in the process we are any where from 6-8 months away from bringing him home.
Adoption is expensive. The total cost will end up costing us close to $30,000. We have been very blessed in our careers but coming up with that amount of money in a few months seems unattainable. We will be setting up awebsite detailing the process and our trip to China. You can expect to see some great food post here on the site.
We will be setting up a Paypal account to allow our friends to make donations and be part of this experience. Until then if you would like to make a donation you can send it to
